After a two-decade absence, BMW is set to return to the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) racing scene with Akrapovič by its side. Akrapovič has become an Official Partner to BMW Motorsport and, for the 2012 season, five of the six BMW entries in the DTM race series will display the famed Akrapovič logo.
The first round of DTM kicks off on 29 April at the German Hockenheimring, before moving on to complete a further 10 European dates involving five different European countries.

The process of manufacturing exhaust systems is probably a complete mystery to most people. Their conception is most likely one of dirty manual labor in a secluded garage, with screaming saws, heating and bending tubes…
But in reality it’s far from that.
The technology, materials and workprocesses used today are on an exceptionally high level; you can’t even think about success or a high-quality product without them. At our company we are aware of this, and we invest a huge amount into the development of production technology. It is also true that a great deal of specific tasks are still performed by hand, especially in development and testing, where a bit of improvisation is sometimes called for. Here an accurate eye and the sensitivity of human hands are simply irreplaceable.
In order to remove the veil of secrecy surrounding this process, we invite you to view our promotional film in which you will enter our factory and get to know the origins of exhaust systems.

20 January 2012
An English road tester had the honor of being the first journalist to ride the Akrapovic Morsus show bike.
That day the temperature on the test track was -1 °C. Even though the weather was sunny, this isn’t exactly a temperature that invites you to go for a motorcycle ride. But how many times in your life do you get the chance to ride a two-wheeler as exclusive as the Morsus, which won a host of prestigious awards in selections for the most beautiful custom bikes in 2011.
Before the MCN test rider, it had only been driven by its creator, Tomaž Capuder from Dreamachine Motorcycles: “The Morsus is a show bike; it’s not a sports bike, but a ride with feel for what’s natural,” he advised us while warming up the 1852 cc two-cylinder engine. He isn’t sure exactly how many hours he put into creating the Morsus: “I don’t know. More than 800, less than 1000.”
The MCN test driver was thrilled by the sound—far too loud to be street legal in Slovenia—of this bike with a titanium Akrapovic exhaust system, and by the trucklike torque of the air-cooled two-cylinder engine. It was harder to get used to steering the Morsus around curves, where the gyroscopic force of the enormous 26-inch wheels made it hard to lean into the curve. The experienced rider Trevor Franklin commented for MCN: “Slow entry speed is everything, with an exaggerated upper body lean at mid-corner and a fistful of throttle on the way out, complete with a huge smile. The Morsus is also one of those bikes where you can forget comfort because of what it is. It’s a showpiece; a headturner; a rolling example of creative design and art.”

Team Afrox benefited from these power gains ensuring the BMW 335i is at the sharp end of every race meeting.”
Imagine what an Akrapovič exhaust system could do for your car.
